COHEED & CAMBRIA FALL TOUR

COHEED AND CAMBRIA PREFACE NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR
-- LAUNCHING MONDAY, OCTOBER 29 IN TORONTO --

Eagerly-Anticipated New Coheed and Cambria Album,  "No World For Tomorrow,"
Available Tuesday, October 23

* * * * *
Coheed and Cambria
will embark on an extensive North American fall headline tour beginning Monday, October 29 in Toronto and winding up at Philadelphia's Electric Factory on Wednesday, November 28 (see full itinerary following). Support acts on the tour include rock veteran’s Clutch and The Fall of Troy.

The Coheed and Cambria tour is in celebration of the release of the band's new Columbia Records album, "No World For Tomorrow," on Tuesday, October 23.

Coheed and Cambria (Claudio Sanchez – vocals, guitar; Travis Stever – guitar; Michael Todd – bass; Chris Pennie – drums) will offer fans a prelude to the band's headline tour with a special benefit concert raising funds to combat Alzheimer's disease. Organized by Coheed and Cambria and the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (www.alznyc.org), the concert to help end Alzheimer's will take place at Manhattan's High Line Ballroom, during the CMJ Music Festival, on Friday, October 19.

"No World For Tomorrow," is dedicated to the memory of Antonia Cristiano, Claudio Sanchez' aunt, whose life was claimed last year by Alzheimer's. Cristiano -- a psychologist who played an essential role in the band's early career, counseled the group during deep growing pains and kept Coheed and Cambria from breaking up in 2002 -- was the inspiration "Justice in Murder," a key song on the new record.

"No World For Tomorrow" marks the apex and final chapter of "The Amory Wars," the conceptual, apocalyptic storyline which runs through the band's previous albums -- "The Second Stage Turbine Blade" (2002), "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" (2003), and "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness" (2005) – and chronicles the the trials and tribulations of main characters Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon and their children as they fight to save civilization.

THE BLACK PARADE.....

The Black Parade — which also happens to be the name of the New Jersey band's alter ego — will have 13 tracks when it hits stores next month, including "The End.," "The Sharpest Lives" and the album's lead-off single, "Welcome to the Black Parade."
...................

Last month, in a staged news conference posted on the band's Web site, Way said The Black Parade "was a really difficult record to make. And there was a certain point where it was so dark for us that it felt like we needed to become much more than brothers. We had to be there for each other in many more ways and we also needed to become a new band. Normally, a band says that every time they make a record. In some ways, they become a new band. But we really did it this time and became a different band. Make no mistake — we are My Chemical Romance still. It's just our alter ego for this record."

But "The Black Parade" is much more than just an alter ego — Way elaborated that the phrase also serves as the morose record's thematic inspiration. " 'The Black Parade' is the very basic premise of the record, which is when you die, I'd like to think that death comes for you however you want," he explained. "And I feel that it's your strongest memory, either from childhood or adulthood, and for this particular character in this record, his strongest memory is of being a child and his father is taking him to this parade. So when death comes for him, it comes in the form of a black parade."

"PETE WENTZ? I'LL MOP THE FLOOR WITH HIS ASS!"

You've been away from the music scene for a while, what have you been up to?
TOBIN:
Working on a new record called The Paramour Sessions which we wrote and recorded in this old mansion. It was our first time making a record where we were all in a house living together. We just wanted to do something different and it had always been our dream to make a record like this. We had this crazy time and made this music that I'm very proud of.

We hear the mansion had a bit of a spooky history?
TOBIN:
Well, yeah, it was haunted. The lady who owned the place, she was buried on the property.

We heard Jacoby went down to her grave to get inspiration.
TOBIN:
Yeah, we used to go down there at night, it was kinda fun. If you're not too afraid you can make friends with a ghost.

Did you see any ghosts while you were staying there?
DAVE:
There'd be certain areas in the house where I'd walk by and feel a cold chill. It happened every time I walked past this one corner all the way from the ballroom to the kitchen, it would always be chilly. Always. It's an old house so there wasn't any air conditioning. And just being downstairs in one of the rooms, you'd hear someone walking up the stairs, or hear someone opening and closing doors when there's no one home. Stuff like that happened all the time.

Do you think being surrounded by these forces helped inspire you creatively?
DAVE:
For sure.
TOBIN: We were set up in this old ballroom and any kind of chord you hit it kinda had a certain kind of space to the music. It made us play a little less busy and gave way for a different dynamic, a different mood. This different ambience somehow crept into the music. We just poured our hearts and souls into making this record and we just think they're better songs. I think this album too has more of a positive side to it instead of an angry feel. Love is all you need.

So you lived together, you must have got on each other's nerves, did it turn into The Shining?
TOBIN:
Yeah, we did nearly everything together. F***, I was ready to chuck Dave in the pool. We were all going through our own personal things at times. Plus, you know, some of us were partying, some of us weren't partying. It was hard work but it was fun. The best part was just waking up in the morning, eating some breakfast, then playing music all day long and all night long.

The house was in Hollywood. Is it as glamorous as people make out, or is there a dark side?
TOBIN:
Hollywood is the city of lost assholes. Fake tits and real assholes. But you know what, actually I love Hollywood, I love Los Angeles because it just has a lot to offer, every kind of side of everything. There's a soulful side and a dirty, grimy, nasty crackhead side. Then there's a posh side. I think it's just about the people you surround yourself with.

Do live up to the image expected of a rock star?
DAVE:
Yes, easily, without even having to try. I can't help it.
TOBIN: I don't know about living up to it. I'm trying my best to get away from it.
DAVE: We're trying to be a bit healthier and positive with our lifestyles, and we'll keep trying [laughs].

What about this emo craze. Do you think it's making the rock scene a bit more fashionable?
DAVE:
It's been better for my hair [both laugh].
TOBIN: I think there's gonna be a couple of good bands that come out of it. That's what happens with every phase.
DAVE: The thing with these trends is that they come and go. It's when you have something real, something true that stands the test of time, that's how you know it's going to last. Look at it from that perspective. It's, like, ‘OK, come on, boys, give it your best shot and we'll see what happens in about five years.'

What do you think of bands such as Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance?
DAVE:
I love My Chem. Fall Out Boy, there's a little bit of an issue between me and Pete Wentz.

Really?
DAVE:
Oh yeah. That motherf***er better hope he can afford security his whole life ‘cos I will be there the day he's not there. I will be there, around the corner, ready to mop the floor with his f***ing little ass.

Really!?
DAVE:
Yeah. I love My Chem, and I love the rest of Fall Out Boy, but Pete Wentz... little f***er.

What annoys you so much about him?
DAVE:
Oh he's a f***ing ponce.

OK, moving on! What about more girls getting into the rock scene?
TOBIN:
It's because we are sex symbols [laughs]. I think it's just ‘cos the music; they connect with the lyrics and the music grooves. I would hope it's because there's a sexy side to the music. That and because they want to suck my balls [laughs].

Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan's attempts at music careers. Thoughts?
TOBIN:
I think good luck.
DAVE: I've actually met and hung out with Paris, and she's a really cool chick.
TOBIN: I mean there are people who can pull it off but from what I heard... I mean, it's your opportunity to make crap music [laughs].

Do you notice much difference between US and UK culture?
DAVE:
The lingo's a bit different, the road signs are a bit different, but other than that it's quite close. I mean, America's a bit more brash and a bit more full of assholes. We had a really good night here last night. The Vines were here in town and The Fratellis were here and this band called Bullet. There were a bunch of girls, drinks and shots. It was great, man. So that's what's great about being a rock star is that there are no genre boundaries. We can all get together and drink and it's cool.

Technology crazes, like Blackberries, camera phones, iPods, are they overrated or essential?
DAVE:
Ahh, techmologies. [Does English accent] I love a bit of techmologies.
TOBIN: I have an iPod, I have a computer and that's about it. I'm not a big f***ing MySpace fan but everyone's different. I just don't get into that, you know, that drama. I don't have any friends.

Anything else that is irritating you/getting you excited at the moment?
TOBIN:
What really annoys me is my damn bathroom in this hotel. It makes really weird noises. What also annoys me is that I have to walk really far down the hallway to get to my room.

Is that all that's annoying you in the world today?
DAVE:
If I could just say I think it's time for people to wise up and stop bombing each other, that's about it. If all that's settled we'll be alright. All we need is love, right? The Beatles said it once and it's still true today.

My Chemical Romance Explain the Injuries

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
 Explain the Injuries

My Chemical Romance was forced to cancel their appearance at the San Diego Street Scene festival due to unexplained injuries to the band. At the time, there was speculation that the group was either in a car accident or somehow injured while filming a video. Now MCR has confirmed that two of its members were indeed injured filming a video for their as-yet-unannounced new single.

In a statement on their Web site, MCR write, "There are tons of rumors and allegations floating around and we want to clear it all up for you. We also want to express our gratitude for the concern, care, and understanding all of our fans and friends have shown us in the past week. Here are the facts for you all and please know that none of the injuries sustained were permanent nor intentional and it really proves that sometimes these things happen and every person should truly value what they have. Last week, while shooting a new video for our new record, 2 of us sustained some damage more than we normally would have. [Frontman] Gerard [Way] tore multiple ligaments in his ankle and [drummer] Bob [Bryar] received a bad burn to the back of his leg. These injuries were sustained on Thursday evening."

The statement continues, "On Friday morning we drove to San Diego to prepare for our performance at Street Scene that we were very excited about. After seeing doctors, we decided to give it our all and rehearse on Friday night. This proved impossible. The pain was overwhelming and we could not pull through without further injuring ourselves. We hate canceling shows, especially now that we are done recording and just want to play. So there you have it, there were no car wrecks, monster attacks or alien abductions, but there were serious injuries that required this to be the way. We apologize for it coming down so last minute and never wished it to end up that way. We promise to be back in San Diego this year. We miss you all and will see you soon."

Peaches is auctioning off her undies.... read on....

You knew this was coming. If anybody was going to auction off her used thong, it was going to be Peaches. The cause? Buying a woman a house. Several Canadian artists have banded together in support of Tyler Clark Burke, Three Gut Records co-founder and visual artist. Proceeds from such items as Peaches' undies, Justin Peroff's (Broken Social Scene) washed boxers, and the currently undecided services of Joel Gibb (Hidden Cameras), Andre Ethier (Deadly Snakes), Michael Belitsky (Sadies), and k-os, among others, are also being offered to help Burke make a down payment.

The real treats, however, come from Feist and Feist/Peaches collaborator Chilly Gonzalez. Feist is auctioning stage time with herself and her band, who "will learn the winner's song (or choice of song) and...perform it on stage at one of her shows" with him/her, according to the website Burke has created for the auction.

Gonzalez's contribution is "a Gonzpirational pro-versation", in which he will eschew all the negativity of a con-versation in a 30-minute phone session with the auction's winner. There is the possibility of meeting Chilly in person, but it would likely involve some travel and the resultant costs.

Plenty of the other items in the auction have yet to be decided, but there is a ton of visual art being offered as well as the potential for a best-of-3 Scrabble tournament with Burke herself.

The auctions begin tomorrow (August 2), and Burke describes the division of the profits thusly: "40% to the artist-friend donor, 20% to Habitat for Humanity...and 40% to (possible) habitat for me."

Learn all about the auction here.

The Raconteurs "Broken Boy Soldiers" .... Reviewed by Papermag

THE RACONTEURS
Broken Boy Soldiers (V2)

When Jack White takes up a hobby, he doesn't settle for needlepoint. This side project is composed of the White Stripes' frontman, his Detroit rocker pal Brendan Benson, and Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of the Greenhornes. Their debut, as you might expect, is thoroughly classic rock. Alternately reminiscent of the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and others, Broken Boy Soldiers is an aural pleasure, even if it doesn't present the most original of sounds. White and Benson share songwriting, lead guitar and vocal responsibilities; their rarin'-for-radio single "Steady, As She Goes" is catchy, yet still off-kilter and thoughtful enough to be appreciated by downtowners. Lyrics like "Your friends have shown a kink in the single life/ You've had to much to think, now you need a wife" ought to appeal to anyone who finds Karen Elson interesting. But regardless of the band members' biographies, their material is engaging. The Raconteurs may be a throwback to the legendary bands that came before them, but it's nice to have one to call our own.
